Dans la famille Morrison, je demande la mère, le père et la fille.
Né le 31 août 1945 à Belfast, Van Morrison est le fils unique de George et Violet Morrison. Lui a longtemps travaillé sur les chantiers navals de la ville, il était athée et grand amateur de blues. Elle était croyante et pratiquante, chanteuse et danseuse à ses heures. Entre un père renfrogné et une mère exubérante, Van Morrison n’a pas choisi et il a évoqué chacun d’entre eux à travers quelques chansons.
Et puis il a beaucoup chanté et chante beaucoup en compagnie de sa fille Shana née aux Etats-Unis en 1970 et qui mène une modeste mais durable carrière outre-Atlantique.
Dans l’ombre de son père mais aussi en parfaite harmonie.

Wild Mountain Thyme” (also known as “Purple Heather” and “Will Ye Go, Lassie, Go?”) is a Scottish/Irish folk song. The lyrics and melody are a variant of the song “The Braes of Balquhither” by Scottish poet Robert Tannahill (1774–1810) and Scottish composer Robert Archibald Smith (1780–1829), but were adapted by Belfast musician Francis McPeake (1885–1971) into “Wild Mountain Thyme” and first recorded by his family in the 1950s.
